Kama’ aina Water Conservation Initiative
On a global scale, the Earth’s estimated 160,000 glaciers from the Rocky Mountains to the Himalayas have been shrinking. The UN’s Nobel-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has reported that as early as 2020, between 75 million and 250 million people in Africa will suffer water shortages, residents of Asia’s megacities will be at great risk of river and coastal flooding, Europeans can expect extensive species loss, and North Americans will experience longer and hotter heat waves and greater competition for water, the report says. Scientists suggest that manmade emissions of carbon dioxide are combining with purely natural factors, such as a shift in jet streams pumping warmer air into traditionally cooler northern climates.

A portion of Kama’aina Water’s proceeds go to water conservation efforts, including helping to bring water to the millions to whom water is inaccessible or contaminated.

You can do your part as well. Using water in moderation, using energy efficient appliances, recycling, and using public transportation are just a few of the many ways you can do your part to keep our waterways cleaner.
